Brown Hare Surveys
The Brown Hare population in the UK has undergone significant declines since the 1960s and the species is now a UK Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) Priority Species. Hare surveys aren’t usually required for small scale developments, however for major road schemes and some pipeline projects hare surveys are often essential.
Survey methods take two forms, transect surveys during the day time or night-time torch surveys or ‘lamping’.
Our surveyors have undertaken preliminary hare surveys including survey logistics and landowner liaison associated with a major road scheme in north Lancashire.
