Pennine Ecological is made up of ecological professionals with decades of survey and practical land management / habitat creation experience.  The company was formed in 1996 by Robert Leatham and Ian Ryding – former Conservation Officers and consultants with Lancashire Wildlife Trust. They have worked extensively within nature conservation and ecology for over 30 years and have recently been joined by Patrick Leatham and Stuart Macpherson both former Senior Ecologists at Jacobs. Both Patrick and Stuart are multiple protected species licensed ecologists including bats, great crested newts, badgers and barn owls. They bring with them a wealth of ecological experience in project management on major national infrastructure projects such as Highways England smart motorway upgrades and Environment Agency flood / sea defence schemes, in addition to extensive experience of practical conservation land management and habitat creation including within Sites of Special Scientific Interest, National Parks and Areas of Natural Beauty
